Alan Vega - Collision Drive
(1981) Celluloid
Now we head back all the way to 1981 and Alan Vega's (former Suicide singer) second solo album. First, let's get this straight - this album doesn't sound anything at all like Suicide. It's rockabilly with a bit of dub effects and Alan's own kind of singing. I like it a lot. It's easy to see were Sigue Sigue Sputnik got their sound and much of their ideas from. An essential piece of music history!

Jim Steinman - Bad For Good

Bad For Good (1981)
Epic/Sony
This album was supposed to be Meat Loafs follow up to "Bat Out Of Hell". Jim decided to released it as a solo album instead. And what an album it is!
I really like this kind of bombastic, over the top rock. As Jim once said "If you don’t go over the top, you’ll never see what’s on the other side". Almost all the songs on this album was later recorded by Meat Loaf on various albums.
