The Foreign Resort - The Foreign Resort EP

The Foreign Resort - The Foreign Resort DDEP
(2011) Monolathe

I recently helped crowdfund The Foreign Resort's new EP via Musicraiser, because I liked their last album "New Frontiers" so much. How about their older songs, you ask? Not everything is good. But, boy, this their 2011 "The Foreign Resort" EP is a true classic!
I'm sad I didn't discover this great band until the end of 2014. I missed out on their earlier CD's. Thankfully, Bandcamp comes to the rescue. Flac files is a good substitute for CD's!

Godless Procession - Godless Procession

Godless Procession - Godless Procession
(2011/2015) Gothic Music

Godless Procession is a fantastic Goth Rock band from Mexico. The album I've got is actually the second version of their debute LP, a sort of re-vamped release with some bonus tracks. I immediately fell in love with this band, the music's great and the vocals are out of this world! A truly unique sound worth checking out.

The Soft Moon - Total Decay EP

The Soft Moon - Total Decay EP
(2011) Captured Tracks

Another cool band that I was totally unaware of until recently. I don't know if this EP is representative for their over all sound, maybe there's a bit more of singing on their other releases? This EP reminds me of In Death It Ends, just a bit more interesting! Check out this awesome post punk, gothic, alternative rock release.

Merciful Nuns - Xialba III

Merciful Nuns - Xialba III (2011)
Solar Lodge

I'm a bit late on discovering the greatness of Merciful Nuns. I lost interest in Artaud Seth's previous band Garden Of Delight back in the early 2000's, and I haven't really checked what he has been up since then. A big mistake it seems, Merciful Nuns are quickly becoming one of my favourite goth bands! "Xialba III" is a very good album, with a minimum of atmospheric songs, focusing on the rock in gothic rock. With excellent and unique drums and a bass-sound all doom metal bands should be aiming for, this is the gothic rock album I've been waiting for since the mid 90's!

The Hiram key - Amerikafka

The Hiram key - Amerikafka
(2011) Echozone

Somehow I had missed this very Cure-ish band. I know I've been recommended to check them out several times, but I must have forgotten. The songs that doesn't sound like The cure are the best, sadly they aren't that many. But, and that's a big but(t) (!), the Cure-sounding songs are really good, too! I've had "What Kind Of..." on my mind for two days now! It's a really great tune. Check this out if your into pop/goth.

Unitary - Safe From Harm

Unitary - Safe From Harm (2011)
Infacted

This project started out as Cyanide, back in the early 2000's. I don't know what happened with that band, maybe Johan simply didn't like the name? Cyanide put out an EP in 2002, "Desolate Ways". In 2003 it was Unitary's turn to release something, the "Second To None" album. And then it was quiet for a long time...
Now Johan is back again, "Safe From Harm" is by far the best of his releases. If you like melancholy Swedish/Scandinavian futrepop/EBM, then this is for you!

The Rope - The Rope EP

The Rope - The Rope EP (2011)
Late Century

Yes! More good goth. And somewhat fresh, too. Six tracks of America's finest post punk/goth (actually five tracks and a live number). I don't know why I haven't heared about this band earlier. It's been two years since they released this excellent EP, two truly lost years...

Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic - Flaunt It

Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic - Flaunt It
(2011) Not On Label

This is, of course, an electronic re-recording of  Sigue Sigue Sputnik's legendary "Flaunt It" album, made by the original singer Martin Degville. There may have been other musicians involved, for instance I don't really know what "re-recorded by Lloyd Price" means? But never mind, it's a great update of the original master piece. Sputnik for the 2010's!

SoundSequence ‎– Climbing The Mountain (1997-2007)

SoundSequence ‎– Climbing The Mountain (1997-2007) DD
(2011) Progress

This is a compilation of Martin Rudefelt's work prior to Cryo. The songs may sound a bit more primitive than the Cryo releases, but they are just as good. In fact I think this album is a must have if you're into Cryo! The only bad thing with this digital release is that the Russian label Razgrom is releasing a superior version on CD, with many more songs. I've ordered it, but god knows how long I will have to wait until I can put my hands (and ears?) on it?

Solar Fake - Frontiers

Solar Fake - Frontiers (2011)
Synthetic Symphony

The former singer of  Dreadful Shadows and Zeraphine, Sven Friedrich, is now making electronc music. That's quite a surprise. It's not too common to go from goth rock to (almost) futurepop. But I like it. This is his second release under the Solar Fake moniker. Check it out!

The Devil's Blood - The Thousandfold Epicentre

The Devil's Blood -
The Thousandfold Epicentre (2011)
Ván

I really dig this kind of retro metal. Ghost are my absolute favourites, but The Devil's Blood are also quite good. I didn't have any high hopes about this record, though. I thought that the "Fire Burning" single, released prior to this album, wasn't sounding promising at all. I find that the song fits the album concept much better. I am even beginning to like this track now! Maybe it shouldn't have gotten a single release?

Emmon - Nomme

Emmon - Nomme (2011)
Wonderland

This album has been growing on me ever since it was released last summer. I didn't like the new sound at the beginning, but now I do. I think it was the right thing to do for Emma, because it get's kinda boring to listen to songs sounding the same release after release. Now she has released a fresh sounding album and I'm really curious what will come next time!

Krux - Krux III He Who Sleeps Amongst The Stars

Krux - Krux III He Who Sleeps Amongst The Stars
(2011) GMR

Now it's time for some doom metal. I've listed mostly electronic music for some time, but I enjoy many other genres. This is kind of  an all star project with Candlemass' main man Leif Edling at the wheel. If you liked Candlemass' Last album, the 2009 "Death Magic Doom", you will most likely love this album. It's not pure doom metal, but the songs are real heavy.

Blame - Water

Blame - Water DD (2011)
Ionium

First time I heared this Serbian industrial band was on the Septic IV (2004) compilation. The song "Space Hulk - Evolution" was later reworked and renamed to "Evolution" and that's the version featured on this album. I think about both Diary Of Dreams and Covenant at the same time when I'm listening to this great album. The album was originally released in a slightly different CDr version on Cold Trinity back in 2007. The CD version wich I'm trying to track down was released in 2008 on Klangdynamik. I was, however, able to get get the free download, released in 2011 on both mp3 and Flac and available on Bandcamp. It's absolutely worth checking out!

Ikon - Where Do I Go From Here EP

Ikon - Where Do I Go From Here
EP (2011) Nile

Finally some new songs from Ikon. And it's an EP. I love EP's!
Nothing new this time around, though. Ikon continues to sound like the have sounded the last couple of years. Great sound, but maybe not the best Ikon songs ever. I had expected better songs. I will continue to listen to it for a couple of days. Maybe I'll change my mind?

Felix Marc – Parallel Worlds

Felix Marc – Parallel Worlds
(2011) Infacted

First of all, sorry I'm a bit late with this update. I didn't have the time to write this before christmas, so it's actually one day late. Anyway, this means it'll be two updates this week. Yay!
In my last update I recognised that I hadn't wrote about Infacted Records releases in this blog. So I have now decided to have a bit of an ongoing Infacted feature for some weeks.
Felix Marc is, as you might know, the singer of Frozen Plasma. He's also a member of my all time favourites Diorama. "Parallel Worlds" is his second solo album. It's a really good synthpop record with some futurepop themes here and there. I really like the single "The Muse" and the instant futurepop classic "The Garden Of Light".

Torul - In Whole

Torul - In Whole (2011)
Infacted

Finally, the first full lenght CD by Torul, released by their new label Infacted Records. It's funny, or maybe not funny, strange then - one of the record labels I buy most releases from these days is, in fact, Infacted Records:/ But I couldn't find a label tag in Blogger's settings for them. This means I haven't wrote about a single one of their releases since I began with this blog in September 2009.
Anyway, this was supposed to be about Torul, wasn't it? I really liked the two EP's released prior to this album, "Try" and "Partially Untamed". Some of the songs of these EP's are featured here. This is synthpop at it's best! One of the top releases of 2011!

Aesthetic Perfection - All Beauty Destroyed

Aesthetic Perfection -
All Beauty Destroyed 2CD
(2011) Metropolis

And the list of great EBM/electronic albums this autumn just continues.
This is the third Aesthetic Perfection CD, and definately their best work to date. I just wish that Daniel Graves would continue releasing albums under the Necessary Response moniker. This album has some Necessary Response elements, though. I really like that!

Acretongue - Strange Cargo

Acretongue - Strange Cargo
(2011) Dependent

This has been an exciting autumn for all the lovers of quality electronic music. Just these last few weeks I've been praising Haujobb, Encephalon and System Syn. And now it's time for South Africa's Acretongue first proper album. The self released debute album is still freely available at the bands Bandcamp site. Be sure to check it out!

Haujobb - New World Order

Haujobb - New World Order 2CD
(2011) Tympanik

I've never been a big fan of Haujobb's twisted electronics, but this album's really got me hooked! I haven't had the time to listen to the bonus CD yet, but it has all the songs of the main disc in remixed versions. If you're tired of 4 on the floor club hits, this album is the way to go. I can't praise the production enough!
