Covenant - Sequencer: Beta

Covenant - Sequencer: Beta (1997)
Off Beat

A 20 year old album to kick off the new year, you ask? Yes, the original "Sequencer" album was actually released in 1996. The "Beta" upgrade was released a year later. You want this version for the outstanding "Luminal" bonus track, one of the best electronic songs ever released! If you're a collector, you probably also know about the completely different "Luminal (Test Version)" available on the "Septic" compilation. Both versions of "Luminal" are favourites of mine. "Sequencer" is also a really good album. In fact, it's one of the best albums I own. Don't stream - Buy!

Covenant - Leaving Babylon

Covenant - Leaving Babylon 2CD
(2013) Dependent

Covenant are back on Dependent Records again. Sadly, Daniel Myer aren't. He left the band before this album was released, but some of his compositions are featured. This album is much better than "Modern Ruin" (2011). Heck, I even like some of the slower songs! But please don't waste your money on the limited 2CD edition. The bonus CD is one 74 minute "song" filled with background noise and the reading of some poem - in Swedish!

Covenant - Modern Ruin

Covenant - Modern Ruin 2CD
(2011) SPV

A new Covenant album is always a let down. This album is better than expected but not nearly as good as it could have been. The worst song is the really bad first single "Lightbringer" but there's also a couple of good songs. "Judge Of My Domain", "Dynamo Clock" and "The Beauty And The Grace" are all great songs. And I think the album will grow with time.
